Sameerah Hoddison (aka Samee Tatu), founder of SAMA Los Angeles, is a multimedia artist, celebrity makeup artist, and storyteller with a passion for fragrance, artistry, and intentional design. Through her work, she explores the connection between scent, memory, and visual storytelling, creating experiences that leave a lasting impression.
From a rough sketch to photoshoot, every step is fueled by curiosity and creativity. At SAMA, the process is just as important as the final piece—exploration, instinct, and artistry woven into everything we create.
From the Founder
"I’ve always been a storyteller—first through makeup, then photography, and now scent. After years as a makeup artist and beauty photographer, I started creating candles as a personal ritual—small moments of reset between the chaos of creative work.
What began as a love for fragrance grew into something more layered. I realized scent, like makeup or imagery, could shift energy and tell a story. That’s how SAMA was born—first as a candle line, now as a full creative studio blending beauty, visuals, and atmosphere.
At SAMA, I get to merge all the things I love: skin, scent, story, and space. It’s beauty with intention—from the glow of a photo to the burn of a flame."
